Meet Robert..

Robert Neal Marshall is the Owner and Executive Producer of Robert Neal Marshall Productions, a distinguished Writer and Director as well as a sought-after Guest Speaker who inspires audiences with his passion and creativity.  As Casting Associate with Pat Moran, CSA, Robert was a member of the team to win an Emmy® award for casting HBO’s Game Change with Julianne Moore and Ed Harris, and an Emmy® nomination for casting season 1 of VEEP starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus. 

A proud member of the Dramatists Guild, he is actively developing a West End production of his critically acclaimed musical Rumpelstiltskin’s Daughter with a soon to be announced Olivier Award Winning Director/Choreographer at the helm.  His compelling play 41N 50W, which explores the profound impact of the 1912 US Senate hearings following the tragic RMS Titanic disaster, is gearing up for its next staging. As he approaches the release of his autobiographical book Eight Above the Rest, he invites you to join him on this exciting journey, while his thought-provoking documentary films are available online through Amazon Prime and Vimeo.

As a member of both SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity, Marshall’s dynamic work resonates across various platforms, inspiring and uplifting audiences everywhere.  As a guest speaker and corporate coach, Robert shares his insights and experiences, inspiring others to pursue their creative passions.

Robert Neal Marshall is a dynamic force in the world of storytelling, seamlessly blending his creative vision with hands-on production expertise. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a bachelor’s degree in Film and Television, Robert has built a career that spans casting, film, theater, and live event production, always with a passion for connecting audiences to compelling narratives.

Film & Television

Robert’s early career saw him as a Casting Associate alongside Emmy® Award-winning Casting Director Pat Moran, C.S.A. (The Wire, Hairspray). Together, they earned an Emmy® Award for casting HBO’s Game Change and an Emmy® nomination for Veep, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Robert’s production credits include work as Line Producer, Production Manager, and 1st AD across diverse projects, including The Night Watchmen (starring James Remar) and multiple feature films and shorts. Internationally, he collaborated with Regina Ziegler Productions in Berlin and served as Post-Production Manager for Shirley Clarke’s Ornette Coleman: Made in America.

Theatre & Live Performance

In the 1980s, Robert immersed himself in London’s West End theater scene, working with producer Richard Armitage on iconic productions like Me and My Girl (starring Emma Thompson and Robert Lindsay) and High Society (starring Natasha Richardson). He directed the successful West End debut of Is There Life After High School? at the Donmar Warehouse and later helmed workshops of Rain Pryor’s one-woman show Fried Chicken & Latkes.

As a playwright and composer, Robert’s works include Rumpelstiltskin’s Daughter and 41N 50W, a dramatic adaptation of the Titanic U.S. Senate hearings, both of which are in development for expanded productions in the U.S. and London.

Documentaries, Guest Lecturing & Professional Coaching

Robert’s acclaimed documentaries include Back from the Light, which explores near-death experiences, and Mr. Ocean Liner, celebrating maritime historian Bill Miller, premiering aboard Queen Mary 2 and at Lincoln Center. As one of Cunard Line’s most sought-after guest lecturers, Robert captivates audiences with compelling topics such as WWII newsreel footage captured by his grandfather and the transformative story of his own near-death experience. Additionally, Robert extends his expertise as a mentor, providing vital on-camera and public speaking coaching to business entrepreneurs, empowering them to present with confidence and authenticity in professional settings.

Leadership & Community

In 2020, Robert assumed the role of Executive Director of the Columbia Festival of the Arts, where he successfully transitioned the organization to virtual programming during the COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership, the festival thrived, returning to full-scale live events before his departure in 2023 to focus on independent creative ventures.

On-Camera & On-Stage

An accomplished actor, Robert has appeared in House of Cards, Countdown To Ground Zero, and Discovery Channel’s Somali Pirate Takedown as Captain Richard Phillips, among others. On stage, his credits include the Off-Broadway hit interactive comedy Awesome 80’s Prom.

A proud member of the Dramatists Guild, SAG-AFTRA, and Actors’ Equity, Robert continues to champion creative projects that entertain, educate, and inspire. Based in Columbia, Maryland, he is excited to return to his roots, exploring new opportunities in film, theater, and storytelling.
