Robert Neal Marshall is a storyteller, producer, and executive communication coach whose career bridges stage, screen, and the corporate world. A graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film and Television Production, Robert began his career internationally, working in Berlin with Regina Ziegler Productions before joining London producer Richard Armitage on the Olivier and Tony Award–winning Me and My Girl (starring Emma Thompson and Robert Lindsay) and High Society (with Natasha Richardson). He later directed Is There Life After High School? at the Donmar Warehouse, where it earned excellent reviews and a successful run. While in the United Kingdom, Robert founded the West End Theatre Softball League—created as a marketing event and modeled after Broadway’s teams—which remains active today.
His creative journey has always been guided by curiosity and connection. Accepted into the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, he brings the same qualities that make him a powerful presence on stage and in the classroom. A proud member of the Dramatists Guild, SAG-AFTRA, and Actors’ Equity, Robert’s own works include Rumpelstiltskin’s Daughter (produced regionally and at the Edinburgh Festival’s Assembly Rooms, now in development for London’s West End) and 41N 50W (exploring the Titanic hearings), developed in both the U.S. and U.K.
In film and television, Robert served as Casting Associate with Emmy® Award–winning Pat Moran, C.S.A., contributing to HBO’s Game Change (Emmy Award, Outstanding Casting) and Veep (Emmy nomination). His documentaries Back from the Light and Mr. Ocean Liner earned critical praise; the latter premiered aboard Queen Mary 2 and later screened at Lincoln Center. Cunard Line President Peter Shanks wrote, “We know audiences are in for a treat.”
Robert’s entrepreneurial spirit and consulting expertise shaped a parallel career in corporate training and communication. In Los Angeles, he founded PC Professor, one of the city’s first computer-training firms for creative professionals and small businesses, serving clients such as King World Productions and the California Association of Realtors. Relocating to Maryland, he added organizations including Blue Cross Blue Shield, SCM Chemicals, and Greenspring Health Services, and launched Singular Selections, an early e-commerce enterprise focused on transportation memorabilia and aviation collectibles. Simultaneously, he directed regional musicals, taught at Peabody Preparatory, and contributed arts features to The Baltimore Sun, Howard County Times, and The Columbia Flyer—blending technology, creativity, and communication long before such crossovers became common.
After several years of freelance engagements, Robert was appointed Executive Director of the Columbia Festival of the Arts, where he guided the nonprofit organization through the pandemic by transforming his independently founded Columbia Film Festival into a virtual platform that kept the arts alive when live performance was impossible. His leadership revitalized the Festival’s mission, restored its creative heartbeat, and ensured its successful return to live events—a case study in adaptability, collaboration, and the unifying power of the arts.
Today, through RNM Productions LLC, Robert continues to develop new theatrical and film projects while expanding his public speaking, executive coaching, and on-camera communication programs. A featured Cunard Insights guest lecturer for 17 years, he has inspired thousands worldwide with presentations that merge history, resilience, and storytelling. Caroline Mathieson, Cunard Entertainment Manager emerita, noted, “He is a warm and engaging speaker—professional and knowledgeable, both of which are without fault.”
A survivor of a 2013 cardiac arrest, Robert’s life embodies the message he now shares with audiences: creativity and courage are lifelong companions. A proud member of the Dramatists Guild, SAG-AFTRA, and Actors’ Equity Association, Robert Neal Marshall’s story is one of reinvention, resilience, and creative purpose— whether guiding executives, entertaining audiences, or mentoring the next generation of storytellers, his is a life dedicated to helping others rediscover their voice and to embrace every new chapter with authenticity, clarity, and heart.
